Let’s do the twist!
Aran knits are always popular, and these elaborate textured patterns are a fun challenge for anyone seeking to up their knitting game. But I’ll let you into a secret – those pretty twisty cables that grace most Aran sweater designs are nowhere near as tricky as you might think! The cabling technique also forms the basis of many of the other common Aran designs, so getting to grips with it puts a whole range of other beautiful knitted designs within your reach.
And that’s where this 2-hour Cable Knitting Workshop comes in. We’ll be making a simple headband, which features two cables that twist in opposite directions. You’ll learn the technique, the most commonly-used notations for cables in knitting patterns, and we’ll cover how to sew the finished headband together too. All materials and tools are provided, and are yours to take home after class.
Your workshop will take place in my beautiful studio space in central Dublin, on Saturday the 26th of September 2026. We’ll start at 11.30am, and the session will last 2 hours. I keep the group small (max. 4 students) to ensure you’ll get plenty of help, too. Please note that this is an intermediate level workshop, so I will assume everyone knows how to do both the knit and purl stitches already. If you’re not at that stage just yet, I recommend my regular group classes instead.
